Our Church History trip.

We spent the day yesterday visiting several of the Church History sites in and around Palmyra, NY. Palmyra is about an hour an a half away from Ithaca, so it made for a perfect way to spend the day. We started by visiting the Smith Farm and Sacred Grove, followed by the Hill Cumorah, and finished with the Peter Whitmer farm (where the Church was organized).

From the Smith Farm, the Palmyra Temple appears through the trees. It has quite a dramatic effect.

This photo makes it look like Mom and Dad are standing in front of a blue screen, with the background digitally added. (They REALLY are in the sacred grove.)

Ainsley's First Birthday

We celebrated Ainsley's first birthday today! We laid out all of her presents (too cheap for wrapping paper), and Jayne baked a cake for her. The last picture shows the extent of how messy she got. She awkwardly fingered the cake, and never really "dug" her hands into it. I guess we have a child who doesn't like getting messy. It's been a wonderful year with Ainsley in our lives, and we look forward to countless more. Posted by Picasa

One foot out the door.

I took my first of two exams this morning. It was for a class that I am taking pass/fail, so there wasn’t too much pressure. My second, and final, exam is on Tuesday morning. Mathematically, I don’t even have to show up for the exam and I will have a B. So, no pressure there either. This is WAY better than the 7 final exams I took my final semester of my undergrad (I was enrolled in 22.5 credits).

We will be in Ithaca until we move on the 30th of this month. AMEX is providing a very nice relo package, so most of the hard work will be taken care of for us. Unfortunately I still have to drive across the country, but it beats the whole U-Haul nightmare by a long shot. Although after our last move (from Dallas to Ithaca), I became quite proficient at loading and unloading a moving truck. Huh, Bradley? Graduation is on the 28th, and we are excited to have Mom and Dad come and visit us. The end is more than “in sight.”

Our new house.

Well, Jayne's trip was a success - she found a great looking house on only her second day in Utah (and it was NOT the most expensive one). The house has 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, a sitting room (the "home teacher" room), and a loft upstairs. It also has a pretty decent sized yard for our dogs to run around in. Plus it is located in West Jordan, only 7 miles from American Express. All in all, I think Jayne did a pretty good job! Posted by Picasa
